During summer the post-docs and visiting-fellows of the physical violence project took the opportunity to spend a few months at the ZZF to work in libraries and archives in and around Potsdam and Berlin.

The Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) is one of the leading organizations in the field of the former Soviet Union (including Eurasia) and Eastern and Central Europe from an interdisciplinary and international point of view.
 
After a successful year with meetings in Prague, Regensburg, Belgrade, and Kraków the physical violence project took part in ASEEES Convention 2012 with four panels.

Dr. Jan C. Behrends presented the Project “Physical Violence and State Legitimacy in Late Socialism” at a roundtable talk at the 43 Annual Convention of the Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES) in Washington, D.C.   

While in the United States Dr. Jan C. Behrends together with Prof. Dr. Thomas Lindenberger introduced the Violence project at a lunch time workshop (brown bag seminar) at Columbia University, New York on 16th November.
