Matĕj Kotalík has successfully completed his PhD thesis "´chuligánství´ in der ČS(S)R und ´Rowdytum in der DDR (1956–1989): Juristische Rezeptionen – alltägliche Deutungen – polizeiliche Bekämpfungen im Vergleich" on 14 February 2018.
Jennifer Rasell has successfully completed her PhD thesis „Care of the State. Relationships in and through state care in late socialist Hungary” on 19 February 2018.
During the successful three years (2011-2013) of the project "Physical Violence and State Legitimacy in Late Socialism - An International Reseach Network"several publications appeared in well-known journals, issues and edited volumes.
The international final conference of the project "Physical Violence and State Legitimacy in Late Socialism", which took part from 27 February - 1 March 2014, was opened by the key note speech "´Was ist eigentlich Gewaltforschung?´ Einige systematische Bemerkungen" given by Jan Philipp Reemtsma.

The historical research network on violence after Stalinism is funded by the Leibniz-Gemeinschaft. The project is hosted by the Centre for Contemporary History, Potsdam (ZZF) in cooperation with the Institute for East and Southeast European Studies in Regensburg and the European University Institute in Florence.
